Teri Penick

GOPHC would like to introduce you to Teri Penick. Teri's husband Lynn, a Certified Journeyman Farrier and approved tester is usually with her at the shows, they have two wonderful sons and we can't forget her Jack Russel sidekick, *Bernie*. Teri has been involved with horses since she was 6 years old; "my parents surprised me with my first pony which was a black and white paint. He was so ornery. I would run with him and if he saw a ditch he would stop sudden and I would fly off. I told my parents he bucked me off but they were watching the whole thing." All I heard was "GET BACK ON" so I did and the rest is history. I moved up to a horse named Shiloh whom I taught how to bow I took him to all the local 4-H shows and showed in everything from Western Pleasure to Barrels and Poles. Then my father bought two mares, I worked hard to try and get them to slow down for western pleasure which I finally accomplished somewhat I thought but what happen they were teaching me and preparing me for my next purchase which was a 2yr old paint named Lady. I had her in training with Tommy Scribner before he got really sick. I had to take up where Tommy left off with much coaching. I showed her in a 2yr old pleasure futurity where I placed in the top 10. I later bought two halter mares and then I was stuck on halter. I had two top ten at the Paint world in halter. One was a 1999 weanling paint filly *Pretty Obsessive* which was featured on the back of the paint horse journal several times with Fred Taber. I also raised a 1997 weanling paint colt * Preferred*, who was also in the top 10 at the Paint World with me in the Amateur division and coached by Jerry Wells and his daughter. In 2006 I purchased a Paint Black Breeding stock filly *I*m Spotless* which Ralph and Maggie Bell trained and showed in lunge line and halter with many wins and a Reserve Champion. With much trial and error in trying to find a match for me to show all around my search has ended with our new member to the family, a 9yr old paint gelding *I am Zippin Free* and much thanks to Kevin George in finding this awesome gelding for me. My dream is to someday win the Paint World. With all being said, I could not have accomplished what I have without Jesus Christ in my life, the support of my family and the many people in my life. A special thanks to all who have helped me at the shows I love and appreciate you and I*m forever grateful.
GOPHC wants to thank Teri for her continued support of the club. Stop by and tell her hello when you see her at the show.
